Sponsored by the Rural Humanities initiative at Cornell University, for the Dark Laboratory the question of rural life involves a deep meditation on how the land is a storyteller.

They consider Black and Indigenous grounds of burial and the haunting of empire in the landscape. With an eye toward personal geographies and the layered, sedimented presences of Black and/or Indigenous peoples in the United States, Palmer and Goffe look to their Kiowa and African Heritage.
