Chapter 5IVE: Samir Bantal & Rem Koolhaas

Departing from the ‘Countryside’ study of Samir Bantal & Rem Koolhaas, the exhibition ‘Chapter 5IVE’ at Het HEM in Zaandam takes up the pair’s research questions and elaborates their paradoxical answers, stemming from infinitely complex relations between the urban and the rural. Curated by Rieke Vos, assumptions about the rural are undone and the depth of transformation brought on by rural development is artistically rendered.

‘Chapter 5IVE’ is on view at Het HEM in Zaandam, The Netherlands from May 7 to September 25. Artists featured include: “Ian Cheng, Jasper Coppes, De Onkruidenier, Agnes Denes, Cathy van Eck, Future Farmers, Christian Jankowsky, Suzanne Husky, Gerard Ortín, Diogo Passarinho Studio, Musasa & Maarten Vanden Eynde, Rembrandt van Rijn, Xinlin Vivian Song, Agnes Waruguru (and others)”.
